SNU Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership hosts State Legislative Leaders Foundation Summit
BETHANY, OK --- The Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership at
Southern Nazarene University (SNU) hosts and provides Leadership
Summits for educational and professional development. Professionals
from a range of fields can expect to gain immediately applicable
knowledge and skill to make a difference in their personal lives and
the lives of their organization.

The Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership
at Southern Nazarene University recently presented “Doing the Right
Thing: Restoring Institutional Integrity and Regaining Public Trust,”
an interactive program designed to help legislative members identify
and avoid the pitfalls that have tripped up some colleagues and damaged
the public standing of the legislative institution. The Leadership
Summit was held at Southern Nazarene University 6729 N.W. 39th in Bethany, Oklahoma, on September 17 - 20, 2009.
Speakers
included seasoned legislative leaders; James Ziglar, former Clerk of
the United States Senate and longtime public servant; Brian Flanagan, Director of Training for Ziglar, Inc.; and Judy Nadler, former Mayor of Santa Clara, California and Senior Fellow in Government Ethics at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics.
During
the program, some of the discussion was on why public servants make
ethical mistakes, offer tips on how to prevent members from making
them, and provide strategies for responding effectively when mistakes
are made. The goal was to help create an environment in other chambers
and institutions so that the members are less likely to fall into the
ethical traps that have ensnared so many.
The
Ziglar Center and The State Legislative Leaders Foundation (SLLF)
opened the event to SNU faculty and staff members on a "first come
first served" basis. To view the events program schedule please visit http://www.sllf.org/leadersfoundation.php/cat/66/aid/177.
