Dedication of the Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership
Mr. Zig Ziglar was honored at the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership at Southern Nazarene University (SNU) in Bethany, Oklahoma on Friday, November 7, 2008. Located at 6729 NW 39th Expressway in the Royce Brown Building at SNU, the Ziglar Center honors the life and legacy of Zig Ziglar in partnership with the Ziglar, Inc. of Dallas, Texas.
Among those who attended were Mr. Zig Ziglar and the “Red Head” Jean, his son Tom Ziglar, his daughter Julie Ziglar Norman and her husband Jim Norman, along with several other family members. Many Zig fans and friends from across the U.S. also came to support Zig Ziglar and the Ziglar Center at SNU.
Representatives from the Northwest Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce in attendance were Carolyn Gist, Chairman of the Board; Jill McCartney, President and CEO; and Cathy Wandel, Director of Operations. The Northwest Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce often provides support for activities of the university.
Featured speakers included: Tom Ziglar, CEO, Ziglar Inc.; Mike Ingram, Principal, Eldorado Holdings; Hugh Morton, President, Peachtree Homes; Brad Moore, President, Hallmark Hall of Fame Productions; Ron Mercer, Past President, Xerox Canada, Founding Partner, Mercer Adams Funeral Home; Dr. Larry Lindsay, Chief of Staff, Indiana Wesleyan University; and Dr. Loren Gresham, President; Southern Nazarene University. Speakers spoke of Zig’s influence on their lives and how the Ziglar Center will benefit the university as a whole and its constituents.
The dedication ended with the ribbon-cutting in front of the newly built office space. The office space includes a reception area, three offices and one workroom.

The mission of the Ziglar Center is to be an academic center of excellence for the study and practice of ethical leadership. In so doing, the Ziglar Center honors the life and legacy of Zig Ziglar with the vision of developing a cadre of world-changing leaders who think with clarity, act with integrity, and serve with purpose. The center seeks to serve four key constituencies - students, working professionals, and “for profit” and “not-for-profit” organizations.
Over time the Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership at Southern Nazarene University will be a center for excellence for:
· Ethical Leadership Training and Development
· Undergraduate Leadership Formation
· Ethical Leadership Research
